Calling all Angels

Over Memorial Day weekend, we went to the Pocono Raceway and watched the Blue Angels perform.  This was my first time and the boys, so it was really amazing.  Tony had seen them a few times, but this was not his favorite place (our vision was really obstructed by the low hanging roof).  We ended up leaving early and watching them fly over the parking lot….it was AWESOME! They even got to meet one of the mechanics.

Civil Air Patrol

Tony has been taking the boys to the Civil Air Patrol in Hagerstown for the past month. They have decided to join and made it official by getting their hair all cut off!  https://www.gocivilairpatrol.com/

It is a great program and teaches the kids lots of interesting stuff.  Broc is very curious in learning to fly and possibly becoming an Air Force pilot, so he actually gets to take flying lessons and log hours towards his pilots license.  Gman has been really checking out their search and rescue efforts (I hope he gets to aid them in a an actual search!). If they stick with the program and go all the way through high school – the CAP program will already have them 3 ranks above everyone else that goes to boot camp.  Pretty cool!  I hope they stick it out….will be cool to see where they go.  🙂

Hiking

The boys and I have been getting  back out to Cowan’s Gap.  It is such a beautiful place and hopefully after I am healed up from my surgery; we can hit up some other cool spots in PA.

STEM

Both of the boys  had artwork selected for the STEM show at school last week.  It was fun! I love seeing what cool things that the kids are up to at school and Broc helped out again this year with the 3D Printing Club.

Running, Running

Gman has come such a long way with his track at HCC.  He seems to really like it and has gotten really fast.

Caverns in Greencastle

You need to check this out!

Black-Coffey Caverns.

Totally free, donations only.

There is a place in Greencastle that literally has caverns under their house.  They bought the house last year and recently opened them up for tours.  Really nice family and a ton of history!

U 18 GAME REPORT: THE REGULAR SEASON ENDS WITH A TIE.

The 2022- 23 regular season is now over and we await our playoff schedule. In our game against the ASHBURN SELECTS we were down 6 players, for different reasons. We took the lead in the game when # 7 NICK TISLER opened the scoring unassisted. Just 9 seconds later, ASHBURN scored to tie the game at 1 goal apiece.
The second period saw ASHBURN take the lead, 2 – 1 outshooting the HAMMERHEADS 12 – 7 for the period and 17 – 12 for the game.
The HAMMERHEADS would tie the game at 2 – 2, on a goal by #87 COLTON HUNSECKER assisted by # 7 NICK TISLER. The HAMMERHEADS would outshoot the ASHBURN SELECTS 5 – 4 for the period and hold on for the 2 – 2 tie. This game only had three penalties and only 1 for the HAMMERHEADS and featured good defensive positional play, aggressive forechecking and backchecking. Due to a shortage of players # 41A BROC PARE saw extended ice time and played well.

Steve….

Had quite an adventure this past week.

A week ago today, Steve went outside and never returned.  🙁  I waited a couple of days to see if he would come back on his own and then finally went into freak out mode.  I started posting on FB, lost pet websites, HomeAgain, fliers in neighbor’s mailboxes and alerting vets/animal shelters.

I had thought that maybe a coyote or fox had grabbed him and it made me cry everyday.

Yesterday, I got a message from one of our neighbors telling me check out a FB post about a missing cat.  Sure enough – it was a picture of our sweet Steve.

He was found by a lady in a tree – over 10 miles away from our house!  CRAZY! I can’t help but think about what he did, how far he actually traveled in 6 days and what he saw/encountered.  I still think that something chased him and then our poor guy got lost.

He is no longer allowed to go outside after dark and I think he is ok with that.
